Honor Thy Parents

We were having a Family Home Evening lesson on Honoring your parents. We asked the boys what it meant to honor your parents.
Bryant said, “It means to be like a slave.”
We tried to explain, “No, not a slave. It is listening and respecting your parents and doing what you are asked to do.”

I Love James!

I was making this tie blanket (?) for a friend, and had to make dinner, so I asked James if he would knot it for me. I came in and this is what I found. Chloe adores her wonderful Dad.

My Birthday Surprise!

I came back at 6:30 am after Zumba, and found James all ready for the day, working frantically in the kitchen to give me this wonderful Birthday Surprise. He really is the best husband. I love you James!

11-11-11 11:11

On 11-11-11 at 11:11 a.m. I talked James into going down to the school to get a picture of our whole family for this once in a life time moment. Conner was just getting done with lunch and we just grabbed Bry out of class. Conner’s teacher took the picture for us, and she was almost as excited as I was. I can’t figure out on the computer how to show the time and date, so you just have to believe me, or you can come by and I will show you.

So this is what our family looked like at that very moment.


I am posting this at 11:11 p.m. I know, it is so awesome.

TIME OUT for women!

Last Friday and Saturday some friends and I went to Time Out For Women in Phoenix. We wanted to be back on Sunday, and not away from our families to terribly long so it was a quick 6 hour drive down, and 6 hours back the next day.
We had so much fun getting to know each other better. My favorite was listening to Camille’s crazy stories. She is the best story teller I have ever heard.

The first night we ate at Hard Rock Café, and listened to the live band, “Riot For Romance”. We were such good groupies, cheering , dancing, singing along. There was even talk of leaving our families and going on tour with them;). We learned a little sign language while there (it was so loud), and also how to waltz to rock music.

Afterwards we got our picture with the band, and they were kind enough to give us each a free CD to remember them by.


TOFW was really outstanding. It was so great to sit there and be spiritually fed. The second day Hilary Weeks sang and spoke, and she did a great job of making me miss my kids. I think I cried on most of her songs. She really is a great talent.

On Saturday when the TOFW was over we had to go back to some stores and return, exchange, and by some things. Then we went to dinner. By the time we were done and on the road it was 8:00 at night, and we had that 6 hour drive ahead of us. By the time we got home we were all dead tired, but all happy we went. Thanks to all my friends for coming. It was a great trip.

I also need to do a quick shout-out to James. When I came home at 2:00 a.m. (really 3:00, but day-light savings), the house was spotless. Even the downstairs play room. All the little piles on dressers, computer desk, TV stand were taken care of. No dishes to do, or laundry to fold. The other day I even noticed he cleaned off all the lint on the ground and on the dryer. What husband thinks to clean the laundry room? He really is amazing. Oh, and the kids were happy and well taken care of too.

Cabin in the Fall!

Our family went to the cabin to take pictures of it, and enjoy the beautiful fall colors. It was a wonderful outing.








Chloe is by far my pickiest eater, yet she enjoys eating dirt clods. I am choosing to be offended, I am not that bad of a cook.



We let the kids ride in the back at the turnoff to Camp Jackson. They think that mile of riding in the back is the best thing that happened to them.



I hope we will be able to make it to the cabin a few more times before the cold comes.

Cabin on a Rainy Weekend

We went up to the cabin a couple of weeks ago. There were hunters everywhere on the drive up there. That night, and most of the morning it rained. In Conner’s prayer he said, “Thank you for the cabin, so we don’t have to be in the rain like the poor hunters.” We were thankful, and I hope the hunters still had a good weekend.

Good-bye Summer

We had so much fun at the new pool this year. The city really did a great job with it. It will be missed.

Brookie took these pictures of Chloe for her 1st Birthday. Yes, those are cupcakes, and sparklers, and a mini tea party with all the decorations that she set up for it. She called and told me how excited she was with what she did. When I showed up I said, “Wow! You must have had a lot of energy this morning.” Don’t worry, she was able to use the background for her girls too. I just love it! Thanks again Brooke!
