Crunchy, Crunchy Hear the Sounds, of the Leaves Upon the Ground

For family home evening we decided to go out and rake up the yard. The boys loved it and their favorite part was playing in the big pile. We never finished the job because we discovered we didn't have the big black bags we needed, and then it snowed. Maybe our next FHE we will bag the leaves.

Got to Love Blankies

I had washed Ethan's blankies (yes he has more than one, and a teddy bear). While getting ready for bed he was in the room with James and spotted them in the hamper. He climbed right in and made himself comfy. He is such a cutey.

Winterizing the Cabin

This last weekend we went up to the cabin to help grandpa winterize. The boys had so much fun. They love riding the 4-wheelers, hiking, feeding fish, "helping" with the fire, etc. It is kind of sad shutting down the cabin. We always have plans to spend more time up there but then we get busy and before you know it summer is over.

Grandpa was eyeing Bryant's hat, and talked him into a trade, but only long enough for the picture.

Oh, did I mention that we took my Dad's elk bugle with us (thanks Dad). The boys loved it, but I am sure nothing was coming in, well maybe to see what was dieing.

Oh, did I mention that it was the opening day of the deer hunt, I am also sure that any hunters near by hated us:).

Ethan was picking up gravel and putting it in the hole in James' pants. He did it a couple of times before James noticed, then when we made Ethan stop he was so mad.

I love this picture.

Grandma was nice enough to take the boys down to feed the fish. James, Ethan and I came down to help.

There were so many fish, this picture really didn't do it justice. The water was way clear.

Grandma and Grandpa Frost are so great, we love going up to the cabin and spending time with them. I figured out why Ethan is so busy all the time, and always has to be doing something, it's because I named him after Grandpa Frost, Harold is always going.

Afternoon with Friends

Brooke's little boy Ty Ty came over for the afternoon to play with Conner. They have been playing so good lately. Brooke was one of my best friends growing up, I swear we played Barbies everyday. It is so great to have our kids be best friends too.

After Aysia and Bryant got home from school Brooke brought her new lap top over and edited pictures while the kids played and we hung out. I am so happy she got a lap top so she can leave her house:).

I gave the kids some watermelon and they had a watermelon seed spitting contest. Aysia was pretty awesome at it, she is a good spitter.

This is an action shot, and the perfect example of why I wanted a new camera. If any of the kids would move the picture wouldn't turn out. Yeah I got my new camera this week so no more blurry pictures.

I love this picture of Ethan. He was loving going down the driveway and we were trying to stop him. Now we have to watch him even closer. I swear he has no fear.

I had to throw in the picture of Conner as a dogie he is just so cute.

My Hero!

I have saved my favorite post for last. About a week into school the first graders went to the swimming pool during school. I got a call from Bryant's teacher which had me worried (last call like that I got he had taken a walk to the District Office). His teacher had Bryant tell me what he did, so he gets on the phone and says, "Mom, I saved a little girls life." "What?" "I saved a little girls life, she couldn't swim so I saved her." Elaine gets back on the phone to give me details. She said that Bryant came up to her and said that he had saved a little girl, well being a first grade teacher of many years (believe nothing you hear, and half of what you see;) she patted him on the back and sent him off to play again. Then Merri Shumway who saw the whole thing because she was trying to get to the little girl came over and said, "did you see Nicole Francom's little boy, save that little girl."

Apparently the little girl had gone off the slide and started going under right away, Bryant was by her and saw that she needed help so he took a breath went under pushed her up out of the water and swam her to the side. Merri said she was wondering who was pushing the little girl, and then when she saw it was Bryant it made sense why the kid helping was such a strong swimmer, he has been a great swimmer even in diapers . At first I have to admit I thought, well the girl really would have been OK because Merri was going to get her, but Merri told me that it could have been really bad by the time she got to her, because her lungs would have filled up with water. I was so proud of him I cried. The school announced it over the intercom and gave him two candy bars and a certificate that said "Blanding's Best Assistant Lifeguard". He was so happy. He is my little hero:).

Soccer! Cha Ching $$

I officially became a "Soccer Mom" this year. Bryant was very unmotivated to say the least. It was so frustrating for James to watch Bryant play his favorite sport and not do anything. Finally his very last game (which I missed because I was reffing volleyball, ugh :/ ) My Mom decided to give him a little motivation. She told him she was going to take quarters and a cup and every time he kicked the ball she would put a quarter in for him. I told her pennies would work the same, but she said she was doing quarters. They said it was his best game (even though he went the wrong way a couple of times, and stole the ball from his teammates). I really wish I could have been at that game, it would have been fun to watch.

Conner loves soccer, and can't wait to play, I don't think we will have to bribe him with anything.

Ouch! Good one James

So James was out side cutting tile (? I don't remember exactly), and I was laying down because I didn't feel well. He comes running in holding his hand saying "We have to go to the hospital right now!" I started freaking out, and then realized it wasn't real, he got me pretty good, the boys thought he was so funny.

Conner's First Day!

Conner started preschool also. He is going to Lana Lathem's and the College preschool. He loves school and even has me make up homework for him to do. It has worked out great because on the days he goes to Lana's Bryant is at school and Ethan is sleeping so it is a much needed break, and usually turns into nap time for Mom:). Lana also started a blog, so it is nice going in and reading all the funny thing's Conner and his classmates say.

First Day of School!

So Bryant started first grade this year.

I am soooooo happy about his teacher he got Elaine Johnson, who is one of the best teachers in the district. When I did my student teaching she was the teacher I student taught with so I knew first hand how great she is. She took a year off to spend time with her senior daughter and I got my first (and last) teaching job as a first grade teacher in her classroom. It is kind of fun/weird to go in the classroom and help where I have so much history in.

I was pregnant with Bryant when I taught and told him he should know his way around the room because he has already spent a lot of time there.

Bryant has already had an amazing positive year. Elaine has been perfect for him, and he loves her so much. She is even a better threat then Santa Clause.
