SNAKE IN MY TIRE!

Some of my friends and I went to Cotton Wood for the first day of summer. I had to leave a little early for Bryant’s machine pitch game, and my friend Beth had to leave also. While I was leaving I noticed a snake in the road. I pulled up next to it to show the boys and while I was getting out my camera Beth, who was behind me pulled up next to me because she thought I wanted to talk to her. I said, “You ran over the snake.”
“What snake?”
“The huge snake in the road. Oh, it’s ok, I see it behind you. It is under my van, I will pull up so you can see it.”
Then Beth says, “There’s no snake.”
“Yes there is it’s huge.”
Then Beth informs me. “Oh my heck, I see it, it crawled up into your tire.”
“What!”
“It is up in your tire.”
Yes a snake slithered up into my tire. It wouldn’t come out, so I decided to start driving and maybe it would just plop out. I tried swerving, and making it a bumpy ride while Beth watched from behind. When we got to the highway it still was in there. Beth said it would stick it’s head out and then go back in. We continued driving with Beth watching the snake, and when we got service I called her and she said it was hanging out, and then it went back in. We stopped at Ivin’s farm and she said it was just sitting there hanging, it was about then we figured out it was probably tangled up and wasn’t able to get out. It might have been dead, but its mouth was moving (we learned latter that snakes are like chickens and can bite even after they are dead).
We drove to Beth’s house to show Danny, and to see if he had any good input. Nothing. My friend Stephanie came over with her nephew, and looked at it. The little boy even tugged on it a little to see if it would come out. I had to go to Bry’s game, and decided that I was taking the snake with me. We stopped by the house so that Bry could get dressed and then went to the game.
James was going to meet me there and was running late. Luckily Brett Saunders who runs a new business called “RECAPTURE TIRES” which will give you roadside assistance at anytime 24/7 (there‘s a little plug. Thank you soooo much for your help), he came to the game to watch his boy and was looking at the snake. Lynn (his mother-in-law), came over and said, “He said he would get it out for you, but I thought we should check with you first.”
I said, “He doesn’t need to check with me, if he will do it that would be awesome!” I went over there and he informed me that the snake was tangled in some part by the tire, and would ruin the van if I didn’t get it out of there. He started untangling it for me, and then James came and helped a little. Thanks again for your willingness to help.

They put it on the sidewalk to get a good look at it, then we went over to watch the game. After the game We were going to show a couple of our friends, and when we went over there IT WAS GONE! Somebody took the dead snake! We will probably hear about some awful practical joke some kid played on his mom.

I feel so bad that the snake died, and not only died but had a pretty bad death. My dad informed me that Blow Snakes (that’s what it was) are good for the environment, they kill Rattle Snakes, so now I feel worse. It’s so sad. I was so sick about the whole thing I couldn't eat dinner.
The boys keep praying that we won’t get a snake in our van again. I am so glad it is over.

Lemonade Stand!

The boys have been wanting to do a lemonade stand for a while, so they were so excited when a warm Saturday finally came around. They were good little business owners.

Bryant's Award

Bryant got this award from Mrs. Parker, it said, “Bryant is awarded the “Artist’s Eye” award. For always having a great eye for art, and for leaving happy colors wherever you go!”

This was so thoughtful of her, and really magnified one of his strengths. Thanks for the great year!

First Day at the New Pool!

We went swimming at the new pool opening day, while James worked on the shed and Chloe napped. We didn’t stay long because it was so cold. The boys had fun the entire time, well as long as they were in the warm water. My nephew Shay was there and swam with the boys a little bit. It is going to be a fun summer at the pool.

End of the Year Field Trips!

The boys had a great year, and were way excited about the end of the year activities. We went to White Rock with the 2nd graders (no pictures), then Cotton Wood with the Kindergarteners, and swimming with Bryant.

We tried to go to the Farm with Conner’s class, but it got rained out, so I thought they would take the afternoon kindergarten the next day, but they didn’t, so I checked Conner out of school, and Conner, Ethan, Chloe and I went together. It was fun, and I’m glad I took him.

I am so thankful for sweet high school girls who help me with my kids. They made it that much more fun, and easy. Thanks.

The 2nd graders were supposed to be the first in the new pool, and had been reading for 7 weeks (Dive into Reading) to earn that privilege, but mechanical difficulties and rain made it so that didn’t happen, Bryant was pretty bummed. When they did go they loved it!

Conner's Birthday Party!

We had Conner’s 6th birthday this month. I let him have a birthday party so we started making the list. When we were done we had 12 kids on the list. We tried to make it about half as long, but couldn’t seem to make it shorter. Conner is just friends with so many kids. He is my little socialite.

I am so happy we have such a great yard. There is no way I could have entertained all these kids for an hour without it. We played games, opened presents (a lot of presents, he was so spoiled), and at cupcakes. It ended up being a lot of fun, and not as hard as I thought it would be, everyone listened and was really good.

Later that night we let the kids decorate their own pizzas, and then had the left over cupcakes, and opened the family presents (so spoiled). It was a good day for Conner. Check out Chloe and her twinkle toes on the stool. She climbs up there all the time, I can’t keep her off.

I am so thankful Conner is part of our family. He is so funny, and is thoughtful of others. He is good to his siblings, and is always very loving. I love his facial expressions and his friendly personality. I hope you had a great birthday Conner. We love you!

Our Easter Weekend

We went up to Salt Lake/Lehi area for Easter weekend because I had a Doctor’s appointment (I am not pregnant and nothing is wrong, so no worries). While we were there we tried to see our family and friends, and use up some of our year passes that we got when we lived up there. My appointment was at the U which was about 7 minutes from the zoo, so I dropped James and the kids off and went on my way (thank goodness for GPS).

One of my besties Jen and her kids met us at the zoo after my appointment. It was sooooo fun. I was worried about the weather, but it was actually very nice. Her son Ashton is Conner’s best friend from Lehi, and they were extremely excited to see each other. It was nice spending time with them, letting the kids play and catching up. Afterwards we went to her house to have pizza and drove right past our old house, it was weird. It was so great getting to see them again. I just can’t wait for them to come visit us. Thanks Jen for coming with us.

The next day (Saturday), we went to Thanksgiving Point with Becca and Jesse. I wanted to go to the Tulip festival so bad, so I was glad they were so willing to go with us.
We first went to the Dino Museum, our kids were quite at home there. I thought Chloe might be a little scared of the dinosaurs, but she loved them, she just laughed and tried to grab them.

The Gardens were beautiful, like always, but very cold. I felt bad taking Chloe’s jacket off to get some good pictures, but it was worth it. My kids loved being with Becca and Jesse, and we loved it too. Thanks for coming with us.

Attempt to get a picture of all the kids by the waterfall. Attempt failed.

Second attempt… failed.

Lots of bribes for this one.

We had to do a Costco trip after we were done with Thanksgiving Point, so the kids were soooo tired. People kept looking at our cart and laughing, that is when I realized Conner fell asleep.

We stayed at my brother David’s house while we were there and did Easter with them. Jami got stuff together so the kids could color eggs. They loved it! Claire and Ethan spent the longest time just doing one egg, and the longer they took the cooled their eggs turned out.

The next day was the Easter Egg hunt. That rabbit left so many eggs he ran out of places to hide them. The kids enjoyed being with their cousins. They all get along so well. Thanks for letting us stay at your house, and for spending Easter with us, and for the great meal.

It turned out to be a great trip. We got a lot done, but crazy enough we still had a lot we could have done and a lot of people we wish we had time to see, just not enough time (and money, and room in the van;).

Chloe's 1!!

I know I am way late on this, but my mom had pictures on her camera I kept forgetting to get.

I can’t believe my baby is already 1! She is such a wonderful, perfect addition to our family. She is so much fun. When she smiles for some people she squints her eyes just like I use to when I was a baby/toddler. She hasn’t walked yet (and this post is a month late) but she is getting close (Why walk when you can be carried?). She loves being outside, but does not like the grass. I am still her favorite, but is definitely a “daddy’s girl”. She loves playing with her brothers who adore her. Ethan is getting a little rough with her, but it is making her tough. She has picked up a little biting habit that she has only used on Ethan, but I think it is her way of defending herself. Her favorite foods are ice cream and french fries (I worry a little for her… but all things in moderation?). She is my most picky eater, But she is getting better.

Do you like all the buts in this post? I am just practicing making excuses for my princess (JK).

I love you Chloe! I love your smile, your laugh, your personality, how much you cuddle, that you let me do your hair, that I’m your favorite, and so much more. Here’s to many girl outings in the near future!

Her Birthday invitation.
